I have had my fair share of embarrassing moments over the years. I still have embarrassing moments, just a few weeks ago it happened. In the beginning when they happened, I would be really upset and made at myself. I would cry and not understand why this is happening to me. Now, I am much more resilient with these issues and I tend to laugh at the situation at hand. I always say, "welp! Today I ate a BIG piece of humble pie." I like to think that it just brings me back to normal.
I like to be as prepared as I can be in life in general. Having these sometimes unexpected moments pop up are hard. With that being said, I try to keep the following in my car, for just in case emergencies:
1. Bed pads- great for covering surfaces
2. Large black garbage bags- disposing items and covering surfaces
3. Rubber gloves
4. Room deodorizing spray
4. Hand sanitizer
I also like to be prepared with a sense of humor. After 8 years, this is the one thing that keeps me sane. I love social media for all of the meme accounts that have been created for Crohn's and Colitis. I found if you cannot laugh at yourself, life is going to get a lot harder.
Here are some of my favorite memes I have found over the years that have made me giggle because they are so darn relatable!
and my personal favorite..
Bottom line (pun intended), embarrassing moments will happen, accept it happened, clean yourself up, and breathe. Having a good support system will help you in these moments and remember, everyone poops.
