Fabulous Friday Favorites

Happy Friday! This week was good. It felt more normal and I was able to get a lot accomplished at work. The weather has been absolutely beautiful here almost 70 some days. Yet there is a cold front coming through this weekend and some parts of the stat are supposed to get snow- what?!

I decided to change up my Friday Favorites this month because of my new series Crohn’s Confidential. This week I’m talking about Movies I’ve watched in April.

April was hard month for me to concentrate on books. I tried to start so many different books but nothing kept my interest- I had become so distracted. Watching TV shows and movies seems to do the trick to keep my interest. Here is a list of movies & TV series I have completed since the beginning of April:

A Simple Favor///⭐⭐⭐⭐
Now going into this movie, I knew what the plot was going to be. I liked the book, it was crazy and suspenseful and full of twists and turns. The movie didn't exactly follow the same plot as the book but I think it was still really good! My suggestion, read the book, because naturally it will give you a little move depth and then watch the movie!

Big Sick/// ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This movie had been popping up on Amazon for a while and I finally sat down and watched it. It's based off a true story of the two actors Kumail Nanjiana and Zoe Kazan. I liked it alot and for the sad parts there were equally funny parts. It hit home for me being chronically ill and yearning for someone to stand by me when I am very sick. It's a sweet love story and I love how it's based off a true story too!

Instant Family///⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I was excited to watch this movie because with my job, I process adoptions for finalization. This was such a heartwarming loving movie. Ellie and Pete decide to become foster parents and they are matched with a group of three  siblings and their adventure begins. This is based off a true story and it was perfect. From my work with adoptions, the facts around the foster system and how it works was pretty factual from what I've saw. I laughed, I cried and I felt for the family. It was a great movie.

Selah and the Spades/// ⭐⭐⭐1/2
The trailer for this looked so good and intriguing. The whole movie was an odd mix between Mean Girls and Cruel Intentions. Set a private boarding school, five factions rule the school- all hiding different secrets within the school.  It definitely held my attention and it was interesting. I wanted more after it ended.

The Good Guy/// ⭐️⭐️1/2
This was a predictable, cheesy rom com that wasn’t great but it wasn’t terrible either. This came out in 2010 which wasn’t that long ago but some of the references (blockbuster and answering machines) made me laugh. It was a cute, airy movie where the girl falls for the terrible boyfriends' best friend/coworker. So many bad dating cliches in here but it kept my attention. It reminded of Wolf of Wall Street meets any cheesy rom com movie out there.

The Hills/// ⭐⭐⭐
For what its worth, the six seasons of the Hills was entertaining. I found myself constantly googling what the cast is up to now. The ending was a surprising twist. It kept me entertained and my attention.

I am in the midst of watching Parks and rec- I'm currently in the middle of season two. I have some movies on my watchlist that I am eager to see- I Still Believe and The Photograph among others.

Did you watch anything good recently?

Don’t forget to check out new series: Crohn's Confidential and this weeks posts: My Crohn’s Journey and My Support Team and How They Help Me.

[[I hope you know you are brave, capable & significant, even when it feels like you're not]]

  1. I had not heard of A Simple Favor! I love both those actresses and love to read. So, I’ve got it on hold at the library now! Thanks for the recommendation!
