Dear February

right place, right time

I know everyone was saying January dragged on BUT for me January flew by and February crawled on. It wasn't a bad month, It was actually really busy and really good but towards the end of the month, I kept saying to myself, its still February. I do not have anything HUGE planned in March that I am looking forward so I don't know why I was eager to have February over.

----------------

Here are some words that were prominent during my month:

Friendships/// One of my goals this year is to focus on Girl friendships more. This month I definitely made it a priority and it has been a favorite this month. I went to my first every GALENTINE's Day happy hour and we had so much fun! Reaching out to girlfriends to say hi! has been such a highlight of my day. I have definitely been missing this aspect of my life and I am happy friendship is a priority this year.

Abundance///  My word of the year is Abundance and I have been seeing the repercussions from it since declaring it. These repercussions have been SO good and sometimes I am so giddy about noticing these small moments of abundance. This month has been a reassurance that Abundance was the right word for me, this year.

Family/// I felt like this month, more than ever, I spent more time with my parents. It has been really nice to have this time together. My mom and I have early morning chats, my dad and I are always saying something goofy to each other. I love the meals we spend together- at home and out. Family is something I have always cherished but now that I am getting older, I cherish it even more.

Consistent/// The gym has been consistent in my life since mid-November and it has been my favorite part of the day. There are so many things that have changed because of this new consistent routine that you can't see. I have become more focused and I feel happier each day. I feel stronger and I want to keep going to see the progress.

----------------

Emoji of the month:

🤭

Coy Laughter or amusement.

There were a lot of times this month, I was consistently giggling and sometimes, not at the most appropriate times.  Life is funny, you have to know where to look for the funny and I felt like I used this emjoi A LOT this month.

----------------

This Time Last Year

In February 2023, life was pretty good. I was content with life, my health was amazing and I was active. I was truly happy in this time last year. 2023 Gab must be very proud of 2024 Gab for continuing this feeling of being truly happy despite everything that has transpired.  I also LOVE how the 2023 Dear February post has a picture that had a caption of "No filter, just in the right place" and this month's photo's caption says "right place, right time." Some things always remain the same.

----------------

Gym Update

I went to the gym 21 times this month. 20 of those times I swiped in before 4:30 AM and the 1 other time, I swiped in at 5:30 AM. EARLY mornings at the gym made me so happy. There were a few morning when my alarm went off at 4:00 AM and I said UGH but still made myself go to the gym because I knew I would feel so good after I completed the workout.

This has definitely been a great decision I made for myself- these early morning gym sessions!

----------------

Looking Forward

Bunnies! Leprechauns! More SUNSHINE! Outdoor time! Girl Dinner! New technology backgrounds!

Friday's Joy

Hi friends!
I'm linking up with Erica and Andrea this week for Friday Favorites! I can't wait to read your posts:

View on Saturday Morning

Week in Review

What a great week! Over the three day weekend, it snowed just enough overnight to look pretty and then it promptly disappeared by the afternoon. Those are my favorite kinds of snowstorms.

I was busy with things around the house- getting all the necessary documents together for taxes and doing my normal weekend things.

On Sunday, I didn't move from my bed and it was glorious! I did so many word searches and I even treated myself to renting Migration on YouTube TV. What an adorable movie! I absolutely loved the premise of the movie, all the silliness and the family theme throughout. "you need a HUG!"

Monday I went to the gym, and then out for a few errands. I was happy for a nice quiet weekend.

Work was pretty good. I got a lot accomplished and my to do pile shrunk substantially.

I finished The Frozen River By Ariel Lawhon yesterday morning at the gym. It was soooo good and what got me in the end, even though it was a historical fiction book, the main character was real and her life inspired this book.

-----------------
Looking Ahead

I have today off to do some errands and I'm looking forward to catching up on some sleep, chores and eating this weekend. I can't believe it's the last weekend in February!

Mid-Week Thoughts

Spotted in last week's snowstorm

It has been a LONG time since I had any mid-week thoughts. I love writing these and I decided to bring it back this year. These are things that are on my mind but I don't have enough to write a full blog post about; these can been pretty random topics as well. Let's dive into this month's Mid-Week Thoughts:

*With Valentine's Day being last week, I was thinking about all the years I had a Valentine and the things we did for Valentine's day.

2012
We ate a home made dinner with my parents then went to go see the Vow.
2013
Dinner at Bonefish Grill and then the movies, possibly.
2015
We went to dinner and then went to see 50 Shades of Gray ( I was kidding when I suggested this)
2016
We were snowed in at his parents house, cooked dinner and watched tv.
2018
We stayed home and made home made Gnocchi. It was really yummy and sweet.
2019
We did a Valentines Lunch and went to the movies; he worked that night, so I snuggled with the dog.
2022
We went indoor rock climbing and then did Gianni's pizza and garlic knots.
2023
We celebrated on the weekend before and he surprised me with Red roses

Those are all super duper sweet memoires. I love all the way I have spent Valentine's over the years- in relationships, with my parents, with my galentines; all of them are special in their own unique ways.

*Bumper stickers & license plates

Do you ever pull up behind a car in traffic and try to make a word out of their license plate OR if they have a custom license plate, do you try to figure out what it means. No,only me... cool! Well I do this all the time and I always try to read the bumper stickers too. I love finding out silly tidbits of knowledge about strangers. For example, where I park at work, there is a jeep with the license plate that has PUT on it. I always say "good morning Put Put!" as I walk by.

*Bunnies and leprechauns

I am finding it hilarious that both bunnies and leprechauns will be out at pretty much the same time this year. With Easter and St. Patrick's Day being so close, 14 days away to be specific, the decor is going to be funny this year. Are the Leperchauns going to be riding the bunnies around? Are there going to be green bunnies? OH and in the middle of all of that, Spring begins. Let's add in flowers too! HAHA I can't wait to figure out this decor situation for my office.

(( For so reason, I have misplaced every single one of my Valentine's decor and could not tell you where I put them. HA! ))

*Doing things your own way

This is a personal favorite. There is a right way, a wrong way and your own way to do things. Most of the times, you have to do things the 'right way'. Other times, you can do things your own way, how you feel most comfortable doing the thing; Doing it your own way could be from experience, trial and error or you decided you wanted to do it that way and there was no convincing you otherwise. My point, learn things the right way and then if you feel your way is better, go for it especially if it is not interfering with the end product.

There you have it, my random mid-week  thoughts.

Savoring my Single Season/ The Gauntlet

I made a conscious decision to not date during "the gauntlet".

What's "the gauntlet" you ask?

I would love to tell you, thanks for asking.

After ending a relationship in August 2023, I decided to take my time and not date for a while. I joined a dating app in October 2023 (so much for not dating for a while LOL)  and found myself one prospective suitor. I went on one lunch date with him and then realized I did not wait to date anymore. I didn't want to spend another stretch of  holidays with a new boyfriend and strange people (his relatives). The stretch of holidays is halloween-election day-veterans day-thanksgiving-christmas-new years-my birthday-valentines day or what I like to call the gauntlet. You know you keep going through it, even though it's rough and never ending and exhausting.

I really didn't want to make small talk anymore. I didn't want to share my favorite color, my favorite food or my favorite show. I was completely over it.

I made the conscious decision to not date, not to seek out a relationship for the next few months.

________

I wrote about my Single season in 2022 and while I've had my fair share of Boyfriends over the years; I've spent many many holidays with their families and making polite small talk.

I thought I found love twice but both times

Week in Review

Valentine Flowers
TO: me LOVE: me

Weird week right?
Superbowl, Galentine's Day, Fat Tuesday, Ash Wednesday,  Valentine's Day

This week flew by! I don't know if it was because it was jam packed or because I was busy busy all week.

I can't say I watched the whole Super Bowl but I did watch enough to discover some new hunky men to follow on Instagram- Hi Nick Bosa!😍 I loved the commercial with the football teams that were birds, I think it was for YouTube TV. I also loved the Dunkin Donuts commercial with J.Lo and Ben Affleck. Post Malone and Reba did AMAZING singing America the Beautiful and the National Anthem were amazing. Another country star singing the National Anthem and hitting it out of the park.  I can't talk about the Superbowl without talking about the half time show. Usher did SO GOOD and it was so impressive. The roller skates, the marching band, the visuals on the state, Alicia Keys, Ludacris- It was all great!

I went out for my first Galentine's Celebration ever. We had so much fun,  basically laughing the entire time! We asked our waiter to take our photo and he was a true instagram boyfriend he took multiple photos both vertical and horizontal. We were so impressed! Needless to say this will be the first of many happy hours together.

Valentines started with both my printer and scanner crapping out at two different times. I love that our IT can remote into my computer and fix it instantly without really an explanation why it happened. I also handed out old school paper Valentines and candies to my co-workers. I was SO excited to do so. It made the whole day fun and you know, I love a good theme.

Last night my parents and I went out for our weekly dinner at the diner and its my favorite night of the week. Its simple, its quick and its consistently yummy.

Looking Ahead

Long to do list | Monday off | therapy and McDonalds | Friday off and filled with appointments

-----------------
Links

Quirky Towns in NJ// I love this list and I love even more that I've visited a handful of these towns/ lived near them. I love New Jersey for all its quirks.

Behind the song- Toby Keith/// I love finding out neat tidbits about songs. THIS song makes me even more proud to sing along with it. Toby Keith was a proud American and this  is a great story.

Appropriate behavior?/// I've seen the clips of this all week and it does not surprise me that Kelce did this. Now he's trying to back track and apologize. ITS all over the news and internet; I get it you lost your cool but kids look up to you. Watch out Taylor!

Love a good meme/// A big round up of Superbowl memes that are not Travis and Taylor. Get ready to laugh.

Single on Valentine's Day = BEST DAY EVER/// Just like the author, I love love. I am not sad on Valentine's Day anymore because I know LOVE is all around. I love being cheesy and silly

2024 Superbowl Predictions

As always, I am using some pretty scientific data to predict this year's Superbowl winner.... Let's be honest, we, the public watching this sporting event are the TRUE winners. We are inside, eating the food we want to eat and drinking whatever we want to drink, hanging out with complete strangers at the bar OR hanging out on the couch, and the very best part: The commercials!

Hope we all have fun and see the chart below for the data I used to predict the winners this year:
