2023 Goals

Always plan for a rainy day

Real Talk: I have been thinking about this post since the beginning of the month.

I have goals...everyone does; but this year I wanted to try something different.

2016 was the first year I posted the goals I set for myself. In addition to my yearly goals, I also set monthly goals that year. (I was really ambitious that year!)

In 2021, I posted this "Dave Rasmey 7 Goals to Set" and I set a few goals for that year.

In 2022, I set 4 goals. They were abstract/vague. I just went for it. It was fun in a way trying to accomplish those goals. In the end, I completing those 4 goals to the best of my ability. I was really pleased about it.

This year, I started thinking about my goals again in relation to where I was in my life, where I am going in life, and what I want out of life. This year is a big year for me, birthday wise (35!) and I knew this year I wanted to different.

I decided to re-visit the Dave Rasmey 7 Areas to Set Goals in this year.
I thought about each area he suggested, and I came up with two goals for each category- ambitious I know.

I am going to keep most of them private, but I am going to share 4 of them:

1.    $5 bill Challenge
I am saving every $5 bill I come across in a Mason Jar. At the end of the year, I will tally up how many $5 bills I saved and then put the money towards a savings goal.

2.    12 in 12 5K's
After running 2 5K's last year, I got the idea to run a 5K each month. I have a blog post on this explaining what run's I am planning on doing. I think this will be a fun challenge and it will get me outside and meeting new people.

3.    Try Something New Each Month
In the year of trying to make new friends and putting myself out there, I want to try something new. January started off with learning how to use a Cricut craft machine. There is definitely a learning curve to it and I am eager to actually get more familiar with it.

4.    Use my prayer journal weekly
I've had my prayer journal since mid 2020 and I've used it on and off since then. I would like to use it more consistently and to use it in a more fulfilling way.

-----------
There you have it a sneak peak of my 2023 goals. I am really excited to see how I accomplish these goals this year. Can't wait to look back and see what happens next.

Do you have yearly goals?

Friday Favorites: 2021 Goals

Hello 2021! Its nice to finally see you! We have been waiting a long time for you!

Welcome to the first Friday favorites of 2021.

Today I am sharing my goals for 2021. When I was thinking about my goals for 2021, I stumbled upon this graphic from Dave Rasmey:

Dave Ramsey identified 7 areas where we should be focusing our goals and energy on. Sometimes goals can feel too cumbersome and unattainable but by breaking goals up into one (or a few) of the 7 areas helps you focus in on your goals

This year, I am not going to put pressure on myself to complete all the 7 goal areas but I am going to look at these goals as guidelines and helpful hints for me to shape the year. I learned a lot from last year and I want to try to have the best year I can this year. Having these goals/guidelines help me when I am feeling discouraged or thinking I am not on the right course.

Here are some of my goals for 2021:

-Move each day (walking, paddle boarding, virtual classes)
-Have gratitude in each situation
-Continue with my savings plan and keep my debt very low
-Read 25 books
-Be more creative
-Be intentional with my time

In 2020, I had a AH-HA! moment; some things just ended up clicking for me and I feel like I am on the right path, finally. I am hoping in 2021 that I become even more comfortable who I am, with what I am doing and where I am going.

I am so excited to see what this year holds for me and I wonder what comes next.

What are your goals for this year?

New Year, New Goals, Same Gabrielle

Yikes! Can you believe that it is 2016 already?! I swear It was just 1999  a couple of years ago. HA!
This year I am setting some bigger year long goals that I would like to accomplish.

1. Last year  I read 38 books;  I hope to find some really good and interesting reads.
2, This is the paralegal core competency exam and I have been trying to take this for the past year and half. This is the year I will take and PASS this exam
3. I haven't taken a vacation in 5 years. I think its time for one.
4. My family and I do this all year- I want to continue this tradition
5. If I really stick with my saving goals, I will be able to save a lot of money. Also no spend January will really be helpful
6. I did this project a few years ago. I started it again in September and I forgot how much I've loved this. I am excited to see what I photograph this year!

These are some big goals (especially number 5) but I think If I stay focused and look at these goals daily, I can complete them all. For me to stay on track, I am going to print both this goal and my monthly goals out and frame them; I will place them where I will see them each day- my desk.

What are your goals for 2016?
