January Work #OOTD

Hi Friends!

I am back starting the year off strong with another attempt to try to document my year of work outfits.
Last year, I got to June (only posted until May) and then life got in the way. This year, I am keeping it simple and seeing how far I get.  I absolutely love the idea of wearing everything I own, in multiple different ways. If I find something that I wore, is either too small, too big or just doesn't fit me well, off to the thrift shop it goes.

January was a learning month. I forgot to a take a photo one day; I was off a few days and I was trying to figure out the best angle to take my #ootd photos.

Starting the month off strong: I paired my black and white skirt (thrifted) with a plum turtleneck and black tights and booties for an updated winter look. Light blue, white and tan will always be a favorite of mine. Its classic and goes well in all seasons.  That red sweater was so necessary for a cold day and the week ended with another neutral and a pop of leopard print which is neutral in my world.

Week two of 2024 was full of patterns and chunky necklaces. I am shopping my closet and trying to use everything I own. I love my thrifted pieces (bottom two shirts and my flower necklace). Keeping things simple in the pants/skirt to really let the tops speak for themselves. My striped shirt and paper bag waist pants are a repeat from last year BUT are so cute and versatile- changing the necklace and shoes to get different looks.

Week three of 2024: Monday was a holiday (and my birthday) and then Tuesday was a sick day for me. On Wednesday and Thursday, I went with tried and true outfits from prior years and then Friday, I think I missed the mark. I tried to re-create a look for many years ago and it just flopped with me. #itried

First week in January where I remembered to take #ootd photos.
LOVE the jacket with the fringe. I bought it two years ago and found it buried, best find of the year. Leopard accents were huge this week and that red sweater was a repeat favorite for another cold day.

Last few days in January; The blue top had a nice button detail on the shoulder (not pictued) and it was so pretty in person. My black and white dress had lavender accents to try to usher in the Spring weather and my navy and white top was a great way to end this month as its one of my favorite (thrifted) finds.

BONUS:

Bonus Days: On New Year's Day, I wore my favorite confetti top. My birthday I went comfortable and cozy with navy and grey and then my adventure day was rugged with my blue vest from gap from the early 2000s and my hiking (through the stores) boots. ALSO why does Dick's Sporting Goods have such a great #ootd mirror?!

-------
Gosh, I forgot how much I loved talking about my outfits and this post definitely brought back the joy. I am looking forward to sharing more outfits with you this year!

May Work #ootd

Here we are again, another month has passed and we are here again with more work #ootd photos. I am still continuing to love taking these photos in the morning and its making me shop my closet.

Week 1
First week of May and it was a full one.
Monday: I love the top and sweater combination but I wasn't a fan of those pants (Rachel Zoe) today. It woked but I think I would have been happier with a straighter leg pant
Tuesday: I LOVED this outfit. I found that yellow sweater by chance in TJ Maxx and its so soft,
Wednesday: I took a chance with this outfit- Green pants, blue white top with orange accents, gold shoes and a jean jacket. LOT of color but they all seem to work well together
Thursday: I was totally influenced to get this top from Amazon and I am so glad did it. Its one of my favorites and Keith loves it (Mes colors!)
Friday: Cinco de Mayo. I had a different outfit planned BUT it was too cold out. This is top (another TJ Maxx find) and it has really pretty embroidery.

Week 2
Monday: I started the week off strong. LOVE this top with the lavender sweater and flats. It made me happy all day.
Tuesday: I took another chance with wearing my new Keds sneakers with black pants and my seahorse top.
Wednesday: Ruffle sleeves and sandals made me so happy. It was the first warm day of the month.
Thursdy: Sandals again and my favorite Thredup find- Target ruffle top and yellow sweater.
Friday: My Cinco de Mayo dress a week later; Keds sneakers back for another look

Week 3
Monday: My favorite blue top and sandals. Simple and easy for a Monday
Tuesday: My favorite dress and gold sandals. Simple and easy again.
Wednesday: None...well I wore gym clothes to the hospital for a morning visit.
Thursday: None.... recovery day from hospital so gym clothes again.
Friday: My mom and I have this top and its screams SUMMER. I swear I have been wearing these Michael Kohr's sandals for 5 years now.

Week 4
Monday: Back in business, basics today. White flutter sleeve top and my navy paperbag waist pants
Tuesday: The yellow sweater makes an appearance again this month with the light blue top and gold sandals.
Wednesday: A repeat from  previous months but this time with sandals. Comfortable and easy to pull together.
Thursday: Another repeat from previous months but again with sandals. I love multi-season outfits.
Friday: Ending the week with a little fun, hot pink pants and boat shoes.

Week 5
Last two days of May....
Tuesday: Pulled these sandals out and this tunic. Another fun and effortless outfit.
Wednesday: Last days of the month calls for dark jeans and a teal boatneck top. The cork sandals were new and super comfortable.

----------
Another month of outfits I love; lots of color mixing and taking chances.

3ish repeats from past months- I updated most of these looks for the season with sandals.

I am so excited to start to wear more sundresses and summery clothes.

What are you most excited to wear this month?

April Work #ootd

April is a hard month to dress for. Judging from these photos, I dressed for fall, spring and summer. I think I was too stubborn to pull out an winter outfit but some days were cold!

Let's jump into the review of these outfits.

Week 1

This yellow top I have mixed feeling about. There is just something about it that doesn't feel right.
The pants on Tuesday were navy and oh so comfortable. I love that top (mama has a matching one!)
Wednesdays outfit is a favorite from the fall; I think this is a repeat for that year.
Thursdays top  was a good transition piece for spring.

Loved all these outfits this week!

Week 2

Mondays outfit was so comfortable. It's those Rachel Zoe pants from TJ Maxx.
Tuesday was another repeat with the navy polka dots and green pants. How can you go wrong?!
Wednesday I broke our my fiesta sleeve top ans gold sandals. Who knew some fun sleeves and glittery sandals can improve your whole mood. This will be a repeat all summer.
Thursday was the first day I wore a sundress all year! Yay! Paired it with a demin jacket- perfect!
Friday ended with bright green pants and navy puff sleeve top. Still on the sandal train.

Loved all these outfits too!

Week 3

Monday was a partial repeat- instead of pants, I wore a skirt.
Tuesday was an old favorite and a repeat from previous months.
I love Wednesdays top but it's very flowy and hard to photograph.
Thursdays outfit made me so happy. Though that top is hard to distinguish if it's navy blue or black. I took a guess and went the navy route.
Friday jeans AND sandals. This is an old favorite too!

Another week of LOVES

Week 4

Mondays outfit was a repeat from St. Patrick's Day. It just screams spring to me.
Tuesdays Coral flutter sleeve top was a favorite last year.
Wednesdays outfit screams spring! ( I could just see Miranda from The Devil Wears Prada saying " floral? For spring?! Groundbreaking.)
Another navy, green and tan outfit on Thursday. I can't wait to wear this with sandals when it gets warmer out.
Friday brought back two favorites, my wedge sneakers and my light blue and white stripe top. I might feel like Smee from Peter pan but it's so comfortable.

Yay! Another week of all outfits I LOVE!

Bonus
Easter Sunday

Keith and I didn not talk about our Easter Sunday outfits, we just happened to match. Both outfits are well loved favorites.

*** when we stopped to pick up beer before heading to my parents, the liquor store clerk said something along the lines of the following:

Clerk: that's a nice dress
Me: thank you
Clerk looking at Keith, asking me: did you pick out his out?
Me: nope, he did that on his own. Totally unintentionally
Clerk: oh, sorry dude, rough time out here.
Me: giggles

-------------

Wahooo! I loved all my outfits this month.

5 repeats from previous months. Some are variations but others are exact duplicates.

This project is really making me use all the tops/sweaters I have. I can't want to start to transition into more summery pieces in May!

What is your favorite outfit you repeat?

March Work #OOTD

Another month of work outfits. This has been a fun project. I am going to continue it for the next quarter.

I repeated three outfits from last month and I repeated one outfit this month.

I actually liked 90% of my outfits this month.

Week 1

These outfits were old favorites. Those lavender flats are so comfortable and I always get so many compliments on. Those navy pants are so comfortable and i wanted to buy more pairs in different colors but I can't find them anymore.

Week 2

Mondays pants are so comfortable! I found them at TJ Maxx and they are Rachel Zoe.
The purple top on Tuesday, I think needs to be retired.
Wednesday's outfit was a repeat from January but I think it was cute, minus the boots
Thursday's outfit was the winner for the week.
That pink scarf I couldn't get enough of this week.

Week 3
Mondays outfit was a repeat from a week ago but I didn't care. Its comfortable.
Tuesday's purple top needs to be retired ad well.
By the end of the week, I was adding more green to my wardrobe for St. Patrick's Day.
Thursday's outfit was a repeat from last month, another classic uniform.
Friday's outfit was a mix between st. Patrick's Day and Spring is here.

Week 4
SPRING has SPRUNG!
Colors and patterns were the game this week!
These were all middle of the road outfits for me. I didn't love them but I also didn't hate them.
I brought back my ballet flat poofs that make me feel like Tinkerbell.

Week 5

Wow! To wrap up the month, these were so fun ones.
Mondays outfit was a variation on an #ootd from February.
Yes I wore my tan flats three days in a row. They match everything.
Not completely sold on that blue blouse from Tuesday or the Coral one on Wednesday. Those are on my iffy list. Ha
Thursday's outfit was a last minute throw together because the weather became very cold that one day and my spring outfit was not going to cut it. Ha.
I ended the month with a favorite top that I've worn every month this year.  And yes, that color is just as bright in person as it is in the photo.

Whew! Big month of outfits! 23 work outfits in total (22 if you don't count the double) and to think I've only repeated a handful of outfits over the last three months!

Now with the weather changing, I will be incorporating more spring and summer outfits depending on the weather. I'm so looking forward to more spring tops and dresses and cute sandals.

The items that I marked to retire or iffy they will be donated to the local thrift shop.

What was your favorite outfit this month?

February Work #OOTD

I had so much fun in January documenting my work outfits, I decided to continue it in February.
This month I focused on wearing my closet and not repeating outfits.

Since it was February, I wanted my color palette to be full of red, pink, purple and leopard print.
I repeated 4 outfits from January because they were just too perfect NOT to wear again.

Week 1
Started the month off strong with red, black and leopard. Those red pants and polka dot top under the black sweater were not my favorite and they went into the donate pile. I've tried for years with those two pieces- it just doesn't work.
That black dress outfit was my ABSOLUTE favorite this week. Maybe its because its monochromatic with a pop of leopard? I probably wear this on repeat in March and then again when the weather starts to get colder.
Basic sweater and black pants for the third day. I don't think this is exactly what I had planned- probably because the weather did a 180 and got colder.

Week 2
My only full week of outfits this month.

Monday started off strong with a puff sleeved purple shirt and my poofs.
Tuesday's dress is one of my favorites- its from OLD NAVY! I found it on a clearance rack years ago and while normally I wear navy shoes with it, I am loving the gold.
Wednesday's outfit was not a favorite of mine. That shirt, I think needs to be retired.
Thursday's outfit is brought to you by Express and my gold flats were the winners this week!
Friday's outfit was another where I am just not in love with- that shirt and I have battled for years. Possible another retirement contender.

Week 3
Valentine's week!

Monday I started strong with a pink heart button up and white sweater. That white sweater needs to be retired.
Tuesday's Valentine outfit is one I've had FOREVER. I wear it exactly once a year. The heart in my hair is from a hairband I found on Amazon.
Wednesday's outfit was one of two favorites this week. That pink always make me so so happy! I also love the pink leopard print. So playful and fun!
Thursday's outfit- NONE; sick day for me.
Friday's outfit was the first of 3 repeated outfits from January. That pink is SO vibrant in real life and it makes me SO happy!

Week 4

Thanks to President's Day, a 4 day work week for me.

Tuesday's outfit was simple but really pretty. I rewore the black sweater from the beginning of the month and those leopard flats just won't quit. I LOVE them.
Wednesday I would have chosen different shoes. There is just something off with this. Also this turtleneck feels like its choking me by the end of the day.
Thursday was outfit repeat #2 from January. Last month I paired it with black wedges and black tights (which I ended up hating) and this month, I redeemed myself with gold flats.
Friday was outfit repeat #3 from January minus the leopard scarf. I figured the leopard shoes were enough. This black sweater is so old and I love it but I think retirement might be on the horizon for it.

Week 5

Sorry for the headless versions this week! Hard to fit only two photos in a frame. Lol

Monday's outfit featured my favorite top. Found it on Thread up and it was one of those crinkly shirts. I didn't like the crinkly look so a hot iron fixed that. I totally forgot to iron the bow thos week! I just went with it!  I love how this top and these flats are year round for me.
Tuesday's outfit was a mish-mash of my favorite items. These green pants are super comfortable. I never thought to pair ruffles with polka dots but im here for it.

Welp there you have it. A whole month of work #ootd inspiration for you.

You know, I'll be continuing this next month with lots of green!

January Work #ootd

We are taking this back in the early 2010's..... if you have been reading blogs for a long time,  you know what that means- #ootd posts.

January I challenged myself to wear my closet and not repeat outfits (there is ABSOLUTELY nothing wrong with repeating an outfit), I wanted to make sure I wear everything in my clothes and if it doesn't fit right or feel right, then donate it. I think I put a good dent in my closet and trying new outfits.

This month's outfits featured some of my very favorite looks.

Week 1
Started the year off strong with my favorite hot pink top and leopard loafers. My navy and tan & netural and green combos are some of my favorite classic looks. I LOVE those Nine West pants and then ending the week with leopard and wine colored pants.  Gosh, all these looks could be my uniform and I would be so happy!

Week 2
This wek was a mixed bag. I really liked 2 outfits, one outfit was an old favorite, one chance I took I really liked and the other I didn't like that much. The black and white dress with black tights and booties was my least favorite for the week and possibly the month. Loved the lavender moment and the navy jumper dress. (Fun fact: That navy dress has been with me almost my whole time I've worked at the Courthouse. I've styled it SO many different ways!) The blazer and patterned top was an unexpected win and the navy, green and tan out is an old favorite that might need to be retired.

Week 3
First week dressing as a 35 year old so I had to break out one of my favorite winter outfits- thrifted Talbots skirt with a black turtleneck, black tights and black boots. A simple pearl necklace rounded out the outfit. The big bow and striped yellow sweater. It's definitely a look- not a favorite. Perhaps time to retire that bow. Basic black with a pop of color especially my Tiffany's scarf is an easy fan favorite. White sweaters and I have a love hate relationship. I just struggle to wear them. My gold flats and navy Nine West pants were a highlight of that outfit.

Week 4/5
Week 4 was a weird week. It was cut short due to me getting sick and clearly the first two outfits were not favorites. That sweater has seen better days. Black tights did not do anything for that dress. Should have worn leopard flats. The purple leopard outfit was from when I came back on the last day of the month.

Overall, it was a fun month of doing #ootd's. I am going to continue it through the February. I did this same project back in 2013(?) for a whole year and it was definitely a lot of fun. Who knows how long this will continue for but I am going to enjoy this ride.

Where do you find outfit inspirations?

Miss you: Clothes Edition

Hi friends,

So this post is a visual love letter to outfits/clothes I don't have any more. I wish I had more forethought to save these things because I would wear 99.9% of these now. I guess hindsight is 20/20 and I did love these outfits when I had them.

Do you regret getting rid of a certain piece of clothing years later?

I regret not buying this

I also regret not buying this dress
