Happy friYAY! As I was compiling this post, I had to look at my calendar twice, how in the world is next week, the LAST full week in June? Is this crazy; I swore we just started June a few days ago. Does anyone else feel this? (I feel like life/months have been speeding up lately.)
This was a weird week- nothing in particularly odd about it nor did anything out of the ordinary happen but it had that weird vibe. Kyle got called to a job in the British Virgin Islands this week and I couldn't help but giggle when he sent me photos of Penelope in first class and on the Island. That bird has more frequent flyer miles that anyone else I know (besides Kyle).
Today starts my Friday's off for the summer. WAHOO! For a few years, I used to take Wednesday's off because I loved the break- Work two days, Off a day, Work two days, Off two days. It made sense then but now I want my long weekends. I don't want to think about how hard it will be to go back to working FIVE full days in September. HA!
Later this morning, I am heading to Gravity Vault to get in some early morning climbs. I loving going there when it first opens, I am usually one of maybe 3 people, not counting the workers, there. I am not so nervous and I am able to really do the climbs in the order I like to. Starting with VB's or V0's then moving to V1's and maybe attempting a V2 if I am feeling feisty. I haven't been climbing since the middle of May and that wasn't the greatest because Middletown still has their competition routes up and to me that isn't fun. Both Middletown and Brick will be setting new routes weekly which is super exciting! That means I have to work extra hard at each session because next week, it might be gone! This should get my butt into gear and really get to work. SO needless to say, I am quite excited about this adventure. AND I am already preparing myself for the brusies on my legs and my hands to be not so soft any more.
Amazon and I have been best friends lately and I hate to admit how darn easy Amazon makes everything to find and buy and Poof! a few days later its on my door step. I had to look myself in the mirror and tell myself out loud, GAB YOU DO NOT NEED ANYTHING ELSE for your vacation. That seemed to have done the trick, I haven't checked Amazon in a few days.
At the end of May, I went to DMV to get my REAL ID and I went to Identigo to get fingerprinted for TSA Precheck for my upcoming trip. My TSA Precheck authorization and number came back pretty quickly and I was surprised how easy it was to get and how cheap it was- $85 for 5 years and you don't have to take your shoes off?! Sign me up! I was curious when my new REAL ID license would show up, they told me it could take up to twenty calendar days to receive. They provided me with a piece of paper that could be used in the meantime. To my surprise, it arrived this week and to even more of my surprise, it was so darn thin. HA! I found my very first license (from 17 years ago!) and I compared it to this one, it was half the width. (Gosh, am I getting old, if the thickness of my license bothers me?! HAHA!) The point of this paragraph is to say, I am all ready to fly (pun intended) through security and plop myself onto the plane for vacation.
Kyle and I are supposed to see John Mulaney at the Hard Rock Hotel in Atlantic City tonight he currently (5:30 AM) is still in the British Virgin Islands with a very grumpy flamingo (she doesn't want to leave!) BUT today is his travel day and he should be back in New Jersey and we should be on our way to Atlantic City by 8 PM tonight. {Please pray to the travel gods all the flights are on time and there is minimal traffic- I know, its a Friday night in June IN Jersey, I am dreaming HAHA!}
Here are a few things on my radar from this week:
Purple Moment/// It seems to me that I am having a purple moment. While shopping for items for vacation, I have gravitated towards anything that is lavender or purple. I can't figure out why. It is the color of Crohn's and Colitis awareness and its really pretty but sheesh, its everywhere in my life right now- my water bottle, my lunch box, my nail polish, my luggage, backpack and accessories. I might have gotten purple so it can stand out in a crowd, but at least its aesthetically pleading.
Sweet story/// A High school hockey player suffered a severe spinal injury playing hockey and now nine months later, he walked across the stage at graduation, a goal he set early on.
Tiny Home Living/// My mom found this video and we were both enthralled by it. I've seen other tiny homes and they didn't look as spacious as this one. I think the white interior and the 13 foot ceilings made it feel so much bigger than it was. I loved her extra room turned craft studio (#goals)
Caprese Pasta Salad/// I love pasta. I think all pasta shapes taste different and I enjoy all of them. Pasta salad is a staple in my house during the Summer. Mix and Match Mama combined two of my favorite foods- Caprese salad and pasta together for this super easy recipe. I can't wait to try this one out.
Okay dokie, that's all I found noteworthy this week. This weekend I am hoping to be active each day, perhaps Kyle and I will venture out for a walk; Its Father's day on Sunday, I'll be baking a chocolate cake for dad with mama and I am going to do a packing trial- to see if everything fits in my suitcase because the vacation countdown is almost down to single digits!
