Dear June

You were a mix of weirdness and surprises and fun. Let's take a look back shall we?

Here are the highlights:

  • Went back to the gym
  • Paddleboarded my way through the month
  • Productive at work
  • tried dating again
  • House Hunting

I started the month of with a broken heart.... As you know, last month I dipped my feet back into the dating pool and while it didn't turn out EXACTLY how I invisoned it, I am happy that I tried again. I don't know if I am a sucker for punishment or just extremely curious but I tried again and..... you guess it, it didn't work out. womp womp.

I have realized that dating in my 30s is hard and I believe its because the sheer fact that we all have our own routines and rhythms  about us so ingrained in us already that its hard to incorporate another person into these quirks of ours. Trying to find a mate that has similar routines and rhythms is hard.

On a bright and fun note. I received at work not one but TWO beautiful bouquets of flowers from two lovely clients that I helped. I didn't do anything above and beyond ( I don't think), I was just kind and put myself in their shoes and realized that this is hard to do. Both clients had the bouquets sent to the office and while the guards downs stairs found it hilarious that I had no idea who sent me the first massive bouquet of flowers they thought it was sweet when i finally stopped laughing (and being slightly worried) and read the card.

I got to spend a lot of time outside this month and that made me so happy. Lunch time walks, SUPing the river, sitting in my backyard (as I write this post), and the beach. This year, more than ever, I have embraced the outdoors and the calming effects of it. Life is hard, we all know that but being outside, at least for me, makes me calm and reflective.

We spent Father's Day outside at the beach and it was honestly the perfect day. Over the past year, I have grown to love and appreciate my parents even more. Their sacrifices and what they have done to make the life we have now is pretty impressive.

Another fun/exciting/scary thing I did this month was started house shopping again. One morning while perusing Redfin, mama and I found a house that looked too good to be true. We just had to see it. My agent was able to get us in to see it that day and while whoever did the photoshopping, should win an award, the house was a hot mess express. I get it, real estate everywhere is CRAZY but this was rough. My parents and I learned a new term, yankee basement. A yankee basement is not something I want nor should anyone actually want.

So two things didn't work out this month- dating and house hunting. I think by the end of the month,  I just laughed. How could I have such bad luck?! Well, I guess these things weren't for me and that is okay!

My favorite thing this month....going back to the gym for the first time since March 2020. Was it weird, yes! Was it fun and did I miss it, YES! It was nice to see the old cast of characters and how the gym really didn't change. Did I waddle the first week because I was so sore and not used to work out, YES but did I care, nope!

June, what the crap? HA! I guess every month cannot be amazing. Looking forward to see what July brings.

Diary # 18

I spy with my eyes....

What did you see this month?

Wednesday, May 26, 2021

Dear May

Hi May! Boy I am glad to see you! Since last month was so good, I am hoping you will continue with the good trend.

Lets see the highlights from the month:

  • More books read
  • Promotion at work
  • More beautiful weather
  • Jumped back into dating and then got my heart broken
  • Mask mandate was lifted
  • Finished Greek, started watching the Affair
  • Productivity fluctuated at work
  • 1st paddle board session of the year
This was an interesting month. I had no idea what to expect when I decided to go back on Tinder and Bumble. To be honest, I didn't have high hopes, I figured I would chat with a few men and then they would ghost me. Well, I ended up having a great time on the first date in 17 months. I felt like I was a kid in a candy store. We hit it off and ended up going out a few more times. It ended up not working out and while I was very disappointed, I was happy I put myself out there. Online dating is odd and while its 2021, I am just not sold on it.

This month, I also tried (indoor) rock climbing again. Almost 3 years ago, I went indoor rock climbing for the very time and while it was super scary to be up so high, even with a harness but it was really empowering. On one of the dates I went on this month, we did a Chipotle and indoor rock climbing date. The guy had climbed actual rocks and did this for fun; me on the other hand, tried it once. We had so much fun and even though afterwards, I was covered in chalk and sweaty and my hair was messy, I was so happy.  I looked forward to trying it again.

This month spoiled us with beautiful weather and I wore a sundress for the first time this year. Something happens when the weather becomes  warmer- life becomes lighter? Does that make sense? Also warmer weather always makes me want to listen to my pop punk emo playlists on Spotify. I have no idea what the connection between warmer weather and that genre is but I am here for it.

Still a huge book worm this month, didn't read as many books as  I did last month but the books I did read this month, I LOVED. Thank you Libby for being amazing.

How can June top this month? I guess I will have to wait and see.

Friday, April 30, 2021

Dear April

Judging from the previous month, I had high hopes for you, April.

Since I am writing this in December, I will highlight the month:

  • Social Media break still in full force.
  • Productive at work- able to focus and accomplish what I need to
  • Spring has sprung- tulips, nicer weather and rainbows
  • Binge watched Greek
  • Beautiful views on the river
  • So many books read and so many book hangovers
Clearly, going back through my planner, April was a good month. I think the social media break was a very wise choice for me at this moment in time. I was on Tumblr, but I somehow do not consider that really social media; its more of a diary of things that I love. I haven't been super active on there in the past few years and they didn't really change to much over the years and as I went back through my archive, I realized that this was a true sense of blogging or what did they call it, microblogging (?) and there was no rhyme or reason to what I was posting, it was literally anything that was making me happy. A LOT of what I posted 5, 7, or even 12 years ago, I still loved now. I guess my interests really haven't changed all that much over the years, which says a lot about my true self.

Towards the end of the month, I was feeling comfortable in my skin, with my life and I was happy with my life. Covid is still happening and while that was still a concern, I had been single for over year and I wanted to try dating again. I sat with this idea for a week, listing the pros and cons, and seeing if this is really what I wanted to do. I had some tough times after I broke off my engagement with dating and while the pandemic came at the perfect time for a break from dating, I think I am ready to try again.

Thanks for being the literal bright spot in my year so far April. I am going all in next month and I hope you can keep up May.
